DOTHMAN ATTENDS DCC INAUGURAL MEETING.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of this year's edition of Dothman Champions Cup has held its inaugural meeting today, 29th of January 2023 at Ronke Hotel, Ore, Ondo State.
The meeting had in attendance football stakeholders; the LOC Chairman, the F.A Secretary, Representative of the Referee Association as well as players from different participating teams.
The LOC Chairman, Mr. Adeniyi De Coach announces the sum of #200, 000 as the total prize money for the winners, runners-up, and the third-place winners. He also declared that awards will be given to outstanding players in the competition, best player of the match, best referee of the tournament etc.
A representative of the Referee Association, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olalekan(Romario) charged the LOC to ensure the draws for the tournament is fair and transparent. He advised that the draw should be made from the group stage to the final in such a way that gives participating teams a clear pathway to the final from the opening match.
The Chief Host of Dothman Champions Cup and PDP Odigbo Constituency 1 Member of Assembly Candidate, Hon. Dotun Olorunyomi, while addressing the gathering, described football as a game of friendship and love, a sport that unifies everyone irrespective of ethnic, religion or skin colour. assured top performers of sponsorship in subsequent editions of the competition even as he shared his vision of having the artisans take part in sports. He announced on a final note the introduction of other games like Ayo-Olopon and Draft to give others who are not football lovers a sense of belonging with prizes acrued to winners.
He seized the opportunity to call on the youths to vote massively for him and the PDP to be able to legislate on that that will touch their lives positively.
The Dothman Champions Cup is one of Hon. Dotun Olorunyomi's youth empowerment initiatives.
The draws for the competition will hold on Sunday, 12th of February, followed by the opening match on Friday, the 17th of February at the General Field, Odigbo while the final is slated for Saturday, 4th of March 2023 at Ore Stadium. Matches will also be played in Ajue as part of the competition.
Registration is on and will close on Wednesday, 8th of February.
On the entourage of Hon. Dotun Olorunyomi to the DCC inaugural meeting were: Imam A Mustapha, Mr. Adekanmi Taiwo, Mr. Tomiwa Mathews, and Mr. Abiodun Oluwole.
