IN THE TRENCHES WITH DOTHMAN

Image
PDP candidate for Ondo State House of Assembly(Odigbo Constituency 1), Hon. Dotun Olorunyomi(Dothman) is not just sitting on the couch with a glass of wine, relying on the good legacies of his late father, the former Odigbo Local Government chairman and school principal, Chief Isiaka Olorunyomi or some empty prophecies. He is going into the trenches; into the nook and cranny of remote villages in Odigbo Ward, on bikes to meet the masses who are mostly farmers, artisans and traders, seeking their supports and votes ahead of the 2023 general elections. It's interesting to know that the voting capacity of some of these remote villages outweigh that of major towns in Odigbo Constituency 1 judging by the recent electoral results. Therefore his first port of call was the Palace of the Oloja of Akinfolarin, Baba Festus Akinmutimi, who gave his blessings and urged the Dothman entourage on, before proceeding to the village centre where jubilant party members as wel...

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) until Sunday 29th January 2023. Recall that INEC had earlier fixed the collection deadline as Sunday, 22nd January, 2023. But following a meeting on Thursday, INEC said it has pushed the deadline by eight days. The INEC National Commissioner Festus Okoye, said in a statement, “The Commission is determined to ensure that registered voters have ample opportunity to collect their PVCs ahead of the forthcoming election. For this reason, the timeframe for the collection of PVCs is extended by eight days.” “Instead of ending on Sunday 22nd January 2023, the collection of PVCs will continue until Sunday 29th January 2023. At the moment, the period of collection is 9.00 am – 3.00 pm daily (including Saturdays and Sundays).” Okoye explained that the development signals “a consequential adjustment of the collection by location as follows: Collection at th...

Image
Dothman Media Team drew the curtain on its PVC Sensitization Tour across Odigbo Constituency 1 yesterday. The tour which began on Tuesday, 10th of January 2023.  The team visited Showboy, Lijoka, Costain, Alagbado and Oniseere, Asejire in Oniseere Ward. Also visited were Area Mother, Idi-Mango, Sifawu Village, Oja Baale, Olowo and Ogbe in Ore Ward. Our team rightly observed during the PVC Sensitization Tour as follows: A lot of residents of Odigbo Constituency 1 are yet to be registered by INEC largely due to the usual Nigerian lackadaisical attitude to things of national interest. There is little awareness about the ongoing PVC collection exercise as many residents still don't know where to get their voter's card. INEC is understaffed, which slows down PVC collection process as evident at St' Paul Primary School, Ore yesterday where people complained of spending more time than necessary before getting their card. Consequently, INEC may have to extend the date f...
